INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – October 1, 2024 – Elevance Health (NYSE: ELV) announced today that its affiliated health plans will offer flexible Medicare Advantage plans with personalized supplemental benefits that support the whole health of nearly 40.3 million Medicare-eligible consumers in the company’s service areasi, which include 23 states and Puerto Rico. Through the company’s local health plans, consumers will have access to reliable Medicare Advantage plans that put them in control of their healthcare experience.

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by affiliates of Elevance Health under brands that include Anthem, Wellpoint, HealthSun, Simply Healthcare, Freedom Health, Optimum HealthCare, and in Puerto Rico, MMM.

Benefit plan offerings that put the member in control

Through its local health plans, the company will continue to help members save money and have access to a broad network of high-quality care providers.

  • Emphasis on Affordable Healthcare: Maintaining a focus on prioritizing member healthcare needs, 9 out of 10 plans carry a $0 premium, allowing continuous access to affordable and quality healthcare.
  • Promote Regular Health Monitoring: Affirming a commitment to holistic health and fostering strong connections with care teams, nearly all Medicare Advantage plans offer $0 copays for visits to Primary Care Providers.
  • Focus on Affordable Medications: Access to affordable medications is vital. Therefore, many plans feature prescription drug coverage with $0 cost shares for Tier 1 and Tier 2 prescription drugs. To streamline the process further, many top-rated drugs are also available at a $0 copay.
  • Improved Hearing Health: Acknowledging the distinct hearing needs of each member, many plans offer an established allowance for over-the-counter hearing aids. This allows members to readily access solutions that best enhance their hearing health and potentially prevent or slow age-related cognitive decline.

  • Benefit Flexibility: Most plans offer prepaid benefits cards, arming members with the power to manage their wellness. These can be used to purchase essentials including healthy groceries and pre-prepared meals; bills such as utility, internet, and phone; and over-the-counter health necessities such as first-aid supplies.
  • Comprehensive Health Allowance: Many plans include an allowance for dental, vision, and hearing services safeguarding against potential out-of-pocket expenses in these areas.
  • Facilitated Transportation: Understanding the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive care, many plan benefits provide convenient transportation to and from health-related appointments.
  • Focus on Physical Well-being: To encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle among members, select plans cover costs for SilverSneakers membership and Active Fitness. This not only covers access fees or costs for lessons or clinics but fosters an engaging and effective approach to holistic well-being.

  • Elevance Health's unique Member Connect program effectively blends clinical intervention and proactive measures to enhance whole health outcomes for members, especially those who are susceptible to loneliness or social isolation. This innovative solution matches Elevance Health associates with members living alone and managing physical and mental health conditions. With its significant impact, the program has seen participants experience an 8% reduction in hospital admissions and a remarkable 43% decrease in ER visits.
  • The My Health Advocate model offers more than traditional customer service. It features a dedicated team of advocates, ready to help members understand their benefits, resolve issues, and maximize plan usage through just a call, text or chat. For those requiring additional assistance, language support services are readily accessible. Our team of advocates provide an exclusive service, taking the time to know and understand each member - eliminating the need for repetition and ensuring a seamless, personalized experience.
  • The Sydney Health platform empowers consumers by offering digital management of their health plans right at their fingertips. With services that range from viewing plan benefits to locating in-network providers and managing prescriptions, the mobile and desktop platform is designed to deliver a seamless and user-focused experience. It places control back in the members' hands, making healthcare more accessible and simplified.
  • As a dedicated health partner, Elevance Health’s affiliated health plans not only invest in members' wellness but also turn health achievements into rewarding experiences. Through Health Perks, a redeemable reward system, members can earn gift cards from popular brands just by staying healthy. This means participation in routine preventive care, health-centric activities, and active involvement with their health plan translates directly into tangible rewards.

Adding to their value, most D-SNPs provide members a single card for their extra benefits, to make it simple and easy to use. This benefit can be utilized for over-the-counter necessities, healthy grocery shopping and various other health-supportive services and resources. Boosting convenience, the card is usable in-store with participating retailers, online, via a mobile app, or through a simple phone order.

Elevance Health's affiliated health plan offerings also include Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNP) across 14 states and Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs) in 4 states. Commonly, these plans cater to conditions such as cardiovascular disorders, heart failure, and diabetes. Elevance Health’s affiliated C-SNPs provide a comprehensive approach to managing heart and diabetes conditions, or both concurrently. They ensure holistic care ranging from medication administration, blood glucose and insulin management to nutrition counseling and fitness programs – all geared towards fostering healthier lives for members.

Members may receive a monthly or quarterly allowance in the form of a benefits prepaid card to pay for a wide range of approved groceries and utilities. Unused amounts will expire at the end of the month or quarter.

Transportation services are issued as one-way trips and provided on an annual basis. Benefits vary by plan.
